A school that takes its time โ€” because you should too

Bijak AI was founded in George Town, Penang, by a small group of practitioners who had spent years in data and software roles and noticed something consistent: the people who understood things deeply did better work, made fewer costly mistakes, and adapted more readily when tools changed.

The courses on the market at the time were often very fast. They were designed to feel satisfying โ€” to carry you from start to finish quickly, with a record of completion at the end. That is a reasonable thing to want. But speed alone does not produce understanding, and it is understanding that holds up when the real problems arrive.

So we designed courses differently: shorter lessons spread across longer periods, with exercises that require thinking rather than copying, and tutor feedback that is specific to what each learner actually produces. The name "Bijak" โ€” Malay for wise or knowledgeable โ€” reflects that orientation. We are in the business of helping people genuinely know things, not just finish them.

Lead Instructor โ€” AI Foundations

Former data analyst at a Penang-based electronics firm, Izzati now designs and teaches the introductory and machine learning courses. She focuses on making mathematical ideas approachable without hiding what they actually are.

Rajan Haridass

Project Mentor โ€” Applied ML

With a background in software engineering and five years working with ML pipelines in the logistics sector, Rajan mentors learners through the Building AI Projects track. His feedback is known for being direct and genuinely useful.

Curriculum & Learner Support

Li Ying coordinates course structure and looks after learners who need additional support or a different approach. She holds a postgraduate degree in instructional design and has worked across several adult education programmes in the region.

How we maintain quality across all courses

Instructor review process

All course content is reviewed by at least two practitioners before publication. Updates follow when the field moves significantly enough to matter for learners.

Written exercise feedback

Every submitted exercise receives a personal response from a tutor โ€” not an automated score. Turnaround is within five working days for most courses.

Learner data protection

We collect only what is necessary to deliver and improve courses. Learner data is stored securely and is never shared with third parties for marketing.

Accessible course design

Materials are designed to be readable on standard devices without specialist software. Recorded sessions include written summaries of key points.

Regular curriculum review

AI moves quickly. We review each course at least once per year to ensure the technical content and examples remain relevant to current practice in the field.

Learner feedback loop

Each completed course includes an optional feedback form. We read every response and use it when planning revisions. Learners have shaped several significant changes.

Our Approach

The AI field has changed considerably over the past several years โ€” new tools, new architectures, new applications. What has not changed is the value of a learner who understands what they are working with. Bijak AI trains that kind of learner.

Our courses cover foundational concepts in machine learning, applied model building, and practical project development. We draw on examples from industries that are active in Malaysia and across the region โ€” manufacturing quality control, supply chain analysis, retail demand modelling โ€” so the concepts land in contexts learners recognise.

We are a small school. That is a deliberate choice. It allows our instructors to know their learners and to respond to them as individuals. We are not trying to serve thousands of people at once, because that model tends to produce very different results from what we want to achieve.
